Serbia was at top of the table heading into the round of 16 after a flawless performance in the group stage.

Even though Serbia was leading by six points going into the second half, Italy managed to narrow the margin to two points at the end of the third. Italy’s strength from the third quarter carried over into the fourth quarter. Italy controlled the fourth quarter and stunned Serbia, winning 94-86 thanks to a 28-18 fourth-quarter score.
With Italy advancing to the quarter-finals, Nikola Jokic and Serbia’s EuroBasket ambitions were dashed. With Jokic’s departure, just a few NBA players remain in the competition. EuroBasket action will continue with Luka Doncic, Rudy Gobert, and Giannis Antetokounmpo as teams prepare for their quarter-final contests.
