Nikola Jokic to RETIRE early? Former teammate reveals shocking truth about reigning NBA Finals MVP
Former teammate of Nikola Jokic says the star won't last long in the league.

Nikola Jokic is a certified superstar. He can be argued as the best player currently in the NBA. Jokic is a passing savant and a man who can get buckets anytime it is required. He is a dominant force with a genius level of IQ when it comes to the game of basketball. Even though he has shown immense talent when it comes to the game, he has been known to not share the same feelings towards the game.
Imagine being a player at the top of their game, fans outraged over the fact that you didn’t win an MVP, and being the driving factor, behind bringing home a championship to your franchise something that has never been done before in history, with the likes of greats like Carmelo Anthony failing to achieve what you have. You would be ecstatic right? Not Jokic. He had gone viral after winning the championship as he wanted to go home, and was upset about the parade being on a Thursday as according to him, he had had a long season and wanted to go home to Serbia.
He recorded his statements during the parade and stated that he was glad to be there. His comments though, told another story as he stated basketball was his job and that he had other interests outside of the NBA just like everyone else in the league. “I think it’s not the most important thing in the world still. There’s a bunch of things that I like to do, it’s a normal thing you know nobody likes his job, or maybe they do- they’re lying.” Right after winning the championship Jokic also hilariously stated “its good- the job is done now, we can go home.”
Adding to this point Jokic’s former Denver Nuggets teammate, Austin Rivers stated how long he thinks Jokic would last in the league. Not due to being forced out of the league, but solely out of getting bored of playing. When asked, “How long do you see Jokic playing? do you see him as being one of those guys like 39 and just kinda holding on.” Rivers responded, “nope – nope no chance. I have him playing till like 34-35. He didn’t wanna go to the parade! “
How were the Nuggets this past season?
The Nuggets managed to accomplish history in 2023 winning their first-ever title in franchise history. They were led by the dynamic duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Despite being the undisputed number one seed in the west the Nuggets were still not the favorites to win it all with more media emphasis provided to the surprise run by the 7th seeded Los Angeles Lakers, whom the Nuggets swept 4-0 in the conference finals.

For the first time in the history of the team, the Nuggets secured the top seed in the Western Conference in April heading into the playoffs. The Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team in the same division, in the first round of the playoffs in five games. They advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in four years by defeating the fourth-seeded Phoenix Suns in six games in the conference semifinals. By defeating the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals to progress to the NBA Finals in 2023, the Denver Nuggets became the first team in history to reach the championship game. Denver defeated the Miami Heat in 5 games, winning the championship on June 12, 2023, with a score of 94-89.
They had a very dominant postseason with a record of 16-4. Jokic took home the Finals MVP trophy. Murray his partner in crime, averaged 26.1 points 7.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds. Jokic was 0.5 off averaging a triple-double in the postseason with an insane stat line of 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists.
