Noah Lyles has recently been making the rounds in the NBA news due to his hot take. He believes NBA champions self-proclaim themselves as world champions when they should not be deserving of such a title as they are based solely in the USA. The international track and field superstar received backlash from various NBA stars; even Canadian rapper Drake chimed in, and Lyles did not take kindly to this.
Lyles was interviewed, during which he took shots at the NBA. He stated, “The thing that hurts me the most, is I have to watch the NBA finals, and they have world champion on they head. World champion of what? “That is not the world; we are the world; we have almost every country out here fighting, thriving putting on they flag to show that they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA.”
Post his interview, superstars like Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Bam Adebayo, to name a few, went after Lyles. Lyles was attacked league-wide by mostly US-born players and his logic was called into question. Renowned rapper Drake commented as well, saying, “He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before.. now the whole league doesn’t rate you.”
Lyles did not back down and clapped back at Drake. He went after the fact that it was an NBA topic, something which Drake should not have a say in. He stated, “Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home. This is an NBA conversation. To be honest, I truly think the NBA is the best. There’s the national side and there’s the world side, and you can’t have the world championship title without facing the rest of the world.”

He accomplished the coveted sprint double only previously accomplished by Jamaican Usain Bolt.
