Celebrations are on in the Mile High City as the Denver Nuggets set the seal on the No.1 seed in the Western Conference. It was the first time in the franchise’s history that the Nuggets achieved this feat. Mike Malone, head coach of the Nuggets, was bound to receive congratulatory messages for the same. A text from his wife may appear to be routine, but the tone of it was hilarious. However, what caused fans across the globe to laugh hysterically was Mike’s reaction to the message.
Denver Nuggets head coach hilariously called his wife, Jocelyn Malone, his ex-wife after she roasted the team for not achieving this feat with their own victory. Malone’s wife savagely pointed out that the Nuggets were feeding off Memphis Grizzlies’ loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. She hilariously asserted that it would’ve been better if the Nuggets clinched No.1 on their own by beating the Phoenix Suns Wednesday night.
Mikel Malone said his wife didn’t send him a congratulatory text post this amazing moment. Instead, she subtly roasted them. As per Malone, the message read, “It would’ve been a lot better if you guys got it with a win.” To this, Mike said, “She’s my ex-wife now.”
As Memphis Grizzlies lost 131-138 to the New Orleans Pelicans, the No. 1 seed was secured for the Nuggets. Let us now take a closer look at Malone, Jokic, and the Nuggets this season.
Nikola Jokic and the team clinch the #1 seed for the first time in franchise history

There are several reasons for Nikola Jokic and Mike Malone to rejoice this season. This Denver Nuggets team has done what was never done before as they clinch #1 in the West. The team has won 52 games so far with two more game remaining, making it their second highest since the 18-19 season. The number does fall short of their 54 wins in the 2018-19 season, but again, they still have a chance to equal it.
Under Mike Malone this season, the Nuggets have shown immense progress, great teamwork, and even better results. This season, their offense has been nothing short of frightening with names like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Michael Porter Jr leading from the front. Under Malone, Jokic himself has progressed to an extent that is unfathomable. As Jokic is on the leaderboard of the MVP award, there is a very high chance he bags it for the third straight time.
What sounded like a dream for the team at one point in time is all coming to reality. The Nuggets will hope to build on this going forward and become champions for the first time in the franchise’s history.
It’ll be exciting to watch how the Nuggets now perform with the kind of a season they’ve had, which is nothing short of exemplary. With Mike Malone’s approach, Denver Nuggets will look forward to making the best out of this opportunity.
