Denver Nuggets’ Game 5 win over the Miami Heat helped the franchise get to their first-ever NBA championship. Owner Stan Kroenke was a part of the celebration and even made an appearance at the trophy presentation ceremony. He was called upon by reporter Lisa Salters to express his thoughts on the triumph, but the way he answered her questions was in some way different from the others.
Kroenke tried to whisper his answer into Salters’ ears, but it looked extremely odd on television. Although the crowd in Ball Arena was extremely loud, the microphone could definitely capture his voice. However, him trying to speak the answer into the reporter’s ears is what made it feel even weirder. Images of the Nuggets owner trying to speak into Salters’ ears have since circulated around the internet.
Despite the odd interview, Kroenke was extremely happy about the Nuggets’ victory. With this win, he now has won four championships as an owner in the last year. The LA Rams, Colorado Mammoth, and Colorado Avalanche are the other teams from NFL, NLL, and Stanley Cup to win trophies under his ownership. Kroenke bought the Nuggets in 2000 and since then has worked hard to help them get to an NBA championship. He will be hoping that the team continues to compete and bring further joy to the city of Denver.
