LeBron James and the LA Lakers took no time to revert to default settings after an unfortunate loss against the Brooklyn Nets. In what proved to be a memorable night at the Crypto.com Arena, a range of celebrities showed up to watch the Lakers play yet again.
The team led for much of the first half, led by the mercurial duo of Anthony Davis and LeBron James. However, a faltering bench and a strong comeback from the Nets in the second half meant that the game ended in their favor, 130-122.
The likes of Cam Thomas and Nicolas Claxton surprised all involved, with Thomas scoring 33 and Claxton contributing 22 points and 14 rebounds on the night. Regardless, amongst a range of crowd that had gathered, 20-year-old popstars Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae were also in attendance at the arena.
Rodrigo first became famous due to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series while McRae, first appeared on So You Think You Can Dance. The two stars were seemingly at their glamorous best as one fan even joked that the Lakers would not have imagined losing against the Nets, especially in their presence.
LA Lakers lose again, this time against the Brooklyn Nets
The general trend of delivering against the bigger teams and not doing so against the smaller ones continued against the Nets. The Lakers found a way to lose after an extremely bright start in which they looked keen to blow away their opposition.
However, the Nets’ bench unit came away with the win for their team, as the Lakers bench contributed for a total of 23 points in the game. The Nets, on the other hand, had Thomas alone coming off the bench to score 33.
A range of fans, as one would expect, used the opportunity to troll LeBron James and company. People reacted in a range of hilarious ways on Twitter and were especially concerned by the kind of audience the Lakers lost in front of.
The team’s issues with respect to their bench unit have been constantly familiar this season. The Lakers are now not even a 50% team, and have a 20-21 record. They are currently 10th in the Western Conference and will be looking to return to winning ways against the Portland Trail Blazers.
