Shaquille O’Neal was lately making rounds on social media for backing Angel Reese up, but this time, his opinions went too far and NBA fans ridiculed him for it.

Before dominating the NBA for almost two decades, Shaquille O’Neal was a force of nature at Louisiana State University Tigers for three years. Shaq’s dominant play at LSU helped him etch his name in the College Basketball Hall of Fame (2014) and the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame (2000). He also became an LSU All-Century Team Member (2009) while his #33 LSU jersey was retired in 2000. Despite these achievements, Shaq doesn’t feel he was the greatest athlete to come out of LSU.
Shaq also skipped several other great athletes and stated, on record, that basketball sensation Angel Reese, is the greatest athlete to come out of LSU. The university has had athletes like Odell Beckham Jr., Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Ben Simmons, Tyrann Mathieu, and Alex Bregman among its alumni. But to Shaq, Reese is above them because “she delivered.”
While talking about Angel Reese being the greatest athlete from LSU, Shaq seemed extremely confident in his opinions. Shaq said, a few years ago Joe Burrow “delivered” as well. But he added that Joe was far less athletic as compared to Reese, therefore making her better. Shaq added that he didn’t want to divide the names between male and female, and Angel Reese was the greatest LSU athlete for him.
Fans on social media, as usual, did not agree with Shaq’s opinion.

“Stop the cap,” fans screamed after Shaquille O’Neal said that Angel Reese was the greatest LSU athlete. Shaq has been vocal about his support for Reese but this took it to another level. For Shaq to make such comparisons (him included) was a serious conversation. And for him to back Reese up in the argument made it far worse.
Fans didn’t take the comparisons well and ridiculed Shaq for “mocking” their favorite players. Most of them highlighted that it was disrespectful to other players who were, in their opinion, far better than Reese. Some of them even pointed out that the basketball star shouldn’t even be in the discussion yet. Let us take a look at a few of these fan replies.
Shaq doesn’t seem to be taking a step back while talking about Angel Reese. But this discussion took the debate to another level. It’ll now be interesting to see how Shaq will back up his statements and if he’ll even do that.
