Patrick Beverley celebrated Christmas Eve with rival turned bff Russell Westbrook

Lakers’ teammates Patrick Beverley and former MVP Russell Westbrook have a well documented rivalry with each other over the years. However, since Beverley was traded to LA in the offseason, the pair seemed to have made up.

The latest development comes as the pair seem to have had Christmas eve dinner with each other. To say this is a turn around from where they were before would be an understatement.

Pat Bev and Westbrook seem to be getting along as teammates. They have shown multiple moments of camaraderie in LA, whether it be them inventing celebrations, or Beverley telling the story of Westbrook getting his sister courtside tickets. Of course, Beverley tweeting out that he and Russ had dinner together is the latest in that list.

Beverley and Russ’ on court chemistry is still a little out of sync though, as was seen in the Lakers’ loss to the Hornets. Beverley tried to catch a pass intended for Westbrook and ended up deflecting it out of bounds, messing up a 4-on-1 fast break. This happened right at the end of the game with the score tied at 130. The Lakers ended up losing the game by 2.

To say the relationship between these two hasn’t always been rosy would be putting it mildly. The word ‘turbulent’ comes to mind when thinking about how these two have been with each other over the years. Let’s explore their beef a little bit. It’s mostly been Beverley who has fired shots publicly, but Russ sure did fire the first one. Russ is the one who told the media that Pat Bev tricked us.

Understandably, Beverley didn’t take too kindly to Westbrook’s words. Then a part of the Twolves, Pat Bev went on JJ Redick’s podcast and talked about what Russ had said. “He damaged my career.” said Beverley “Like, coaching staffs and players, fans, they looked at me way different.” He also said “It’s no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun” when discussing the tweet below;

The good thing for the Lakers is that the two guards seemed to have put the feud behind them and are getting along. The team is going to need both of them to be at their very best if they have any hope of making the playoffs in the West.
