Patrick Beverley is a perfect example for someone who could mentor his teammates through the season. That is exactly the type of player we saw in him during his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. His presence has always been effective on so many level and aspects of the game whether it comes to defense, facilitation or even playing mind games.

The Wolves made a tremendous during the regular season pushing past the expected title contenders. They finished seventh on the leaderboard in the Western Conference with a record of 46 wins and 34 losses. Getting into the playoffs after nearly two decades released high emotions for the team and it seems that they have only just started.

Over the years, the rivalry between Chris Paul and Patrick Beverley has been very straight forward and brutal. Last year, Pat got physical with the point god during the Western Conference Finals when the LA Clippers were down. He opened up on Stephen A’s World on the origin on the feud saying, “I appreciate everything he’s done for the game. Me and CP, this started when I was high school and college, I was in LeBron James’ camp.”

“You had these certain teams that played the LeBrons, the Chris Pauls… in front of a bunch of scouts. And I got a little taste of CP there. I destroyed him,” he said, hinting that Paul’s teams had no chances against him. “Ask LeBron, I have no reason to lie.” He further continued saying that CP3 does not get criticized as much as the other players because of his character and position as a former league president.

Unfortunate for the LA Lakers, they barely made I through the regular season for various reasons and it was almost as if LeBron James had the carry the entire weight. Bron averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game but failed to lead them through. Patrick Beverley spoke about him being an immediate effect on the Lakers’ title run.

“If was a free agent and I went to the Lakers, we going to the Western Conference Finals. Nobody goes, same team. They have no one… who is the leader. Rondo was there. Who is telling LeBron ‘you gotta low ball man,’ and ‘you gotta x-out.’ No one’s telling him that. I’mma tell everyone that cause I wanna win. It’s not about me scoring 20, it’s not about me having 15 dimes. I wanna win. I wanna beat everyone I play,” he said.
