Paul Pierce finally addressed his fiasco with ESPN two years after the incident took place. The former NBA analyst was fired by ESPN back in 2021 over controversy surrounding Pierce’s actions in his personal life.
The Boston Celtics legend was allegedly fired by the network after a racy video from his Instagram Live surfaced online. The cable sports network decided to part ways with Paul Pierce after the video gained serious traction, and the star was seen breaking COVID protocols during the time of his IG livestream.
In a candid appearance on Fox’s celebrity competition show, “Stars on Mars,” Pierce attributed the incident to the influence of alcohol in his system. The former Celtic took responsibility for his actions, acknowledging that it was an unreasonable thing to do. However, he also voiced criticism towards the network for his termination, arguing that it was based on just one video.“It was a big whole controversy,” the former NBA player said.”I mean it wasn’t nothing illegal, but it was just girls … girls shaking their a*s.”
Despite Pierce downplaying the incident during his appearance on the show, its repercussions were significant as he lost major appointments with the network. The basketball analyst had been a prominent figure on multiple NBA shows, including the widely popular “The Jump” and the high-rated pregame show “NBA Countdown.”
Following the incident, the network took a firm stance and completely severed ties with the NBA legend. Despite Pierce’s public response addressing the situation shortly after it occurred, the relationship between him and ESPN never managed to recover.

Paul Pierce’s comments on Dwyane Wade backfire

Paul Pierce’s recent comments comparing his career to Dwyane Wade’s stirred up controversy and drew backlash from fans, especially those of the Miami Heat. In a recent interview on the Dan LeBatard Show, Pierce claimed that he had a better career than Wade.
Pierce said, “Put Shaq on my team. Put LeBron, and Bosh with me. I’m not gonna win one? Put me, LeBron, and Bosh [together. Are] we not gonna win a couple?”
In response to the retaliation, Pierce took to X to clarify his stance on his comments. He stated that he had no intention of discrediting Wade’s career but was just trying to prove a point. “I never compared myself to Wade. I was [asked] a question. How would you answer if you [were] me? I would never disrespect him. He is an all-time great.”
Despite the potential underappreciation from fans, there is no denying that Paul Pierce’s career was nothing short of legendary. Arguably one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen, the Celtics icon earned himself the fitting nickname ‘The Truth.’
