Undoubtedly an NBA Legend, Paul Pierce led the Boston Celtics to their first title in 2008 alongside Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Despite having an illustrious career, he recently reignited a debate in 2019, asserting that he is better than Dwyane Wade.

During the “It Is What It Is” podcast, Pierce stated that he could have won multiple championships if he also had Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh on his team, like Dwyane Wade. This opinion drew harsh criticism from fans, who pointed out that Pierce had prime KG, Ray Allen, and Antoine Walker but still lost to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, as well as a young LeBron.

In response to the criticism on Twitter, Pierce defended himself by claiming that he could have won with an older Shaq if Shaq hadn’t been injured. He urged fans to look back at the team’s record when Shaq was healthy, emphasizing that Shaq’s mere presence was an attribute that contributed to their success.

“And I would have won it with way older Shaq if he didn’t get hurt did u see our record when he was healthy didn’t need much from him just his presence alone was an attribute,” Pierce said.

During a recent podcast appearance, Paul Pierce made a comment where he called himself better than Dwyane Wade and attributed Wade’s greater number of championships to having better teammates. This remark didn’t sit well with Wade’s former teammate and Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem.

Haslem responded by slamming Pierce for criticizing his former teammate and calling out podcasts like the one Pierce appeared on for giving a platform to individuals with unreasonable takes lacking sense or reason. On Instagram, UD wrote, “These podcasts have muhf***as getting diarrhea out the mouth!!!!”

This isn’t the first time Pierce has made outrageous takes on the same topic. In 2019, during an infamous clip on ESPN, Jalen Rose embarrassed Pierce by highlighting Wade’s numerous major achievements, such as All-Star appearances and All-NBA teams, where D-Wade clearly outshined Paul Pierce. Perhaps it’s time for Pierce to drop the issue and accept that he cannot win the debate.
