Paul Pierce needs to be given a lot of credit for the work he put in on the basketball court. He was one of the biggest stars in the NBA during the 2000s era and inspired several who plays at the small forward position. After retiring in 2016, he spent a good amount of time as a television analyst before getting sacked by ESPN for negligent behaviour.

He was a big part of the Boston Celtics championship runs and also won the finals MVP in 2008. He played along the likings of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen who are also all-time greats. For 16 seasons of his career, he was a very effective third option averaging 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.

On September 25, 2000, news broke out that the Celtics legend had been rushed to the emergency room after being stabbed multiple times. This was when Paul Pierce and a couple of his friends had visited the Bazz Club. He was confronted by a man after talking to a few women that night, this eventually led to a small fight and then him being stabbed.

The Truth revealed that he despite being stabbed 11 times, the adrenaline in his body made him numb to the pain. Pierce admitted that it mentally scarred him as he suffered from depression and carried a gun with him for protection. He was also apparently hit on the head with a bottle, stabbed in the stomach and chest several times which resulted in him needing an immediate lung surgery.

The following an entire month of recovery, Paul Pierce had appeared for the 2000-2001 season and his performance terrified the entire league. As he had admitted on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, the incident had severely affected him and altered his life completely. But little did he know it would end up being the reason he bounced back up into the legend that he is.

As many would not have expected, he did not receive any load management treatment. The 10-time NBA All-Star some of his best numbers with 25.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game on 45.4% shooting. He also appeared for an average of 38 minutes every game. Unfortunately, they only finished 10th in the Eastern Conference, but Paul began his Hall of Fame journey that year.
