“This is one of the biggest soap operas in recent memory” Paul Pierce double downs on Nets’ willingness to sign SCANDALOUS Ime Udoka as their new head coach

“This is one of the biggest soap operas in recent memory” Paul Pierce double downs on Nets’ willingness to sign SCANDALOUS Ime Udoka as their new head coach

Paul Pierce Ime Udoka

Former NBA champion Paul Pierce sat with former teammate Kevin Garnett and shared his opinion on the possibility that Brooklyn Nets could acquire Ime Udoka as their new Head Coach. The news surfaced on the internet that the Brookly Nets were trying to acquire suspended coach Imed Udoka for the head coach job after firing Steve Nash. Since the news resurfaced the NBA community has been divided on the matter.

All that has been conspiring in Brooklyn, Pierce said, “This is one of the biggest soap operas in recent memory that I can think of.” Bringing Udoka into the organization could bring more talk into the town since he is himself suspended for a scandal in Boston. On the other hand, Brooklyn Nets desperately need a coach of Udoka’s caliber. Talking about what Udoka might bring to the team, Pierce said “he showed that he is one of the bright coaches young coaches in the league…..and he is been there before.

When Garnett asked, “In signing him are you disrespecting the situation that he’s left in Boston?” Pierce said, “At this point, you deal with what happened within the organization, did he do anything illegal… it’s also morals that comes with an organization.” But according to Pierce, the problem is just onefold. Bringing Udoka might not solve the situation in Brooklyn. Pierce said, “If you bring Udoka you putting them with a coaching staff that ain’t his, in the middle of the season. That’s hard to do.”

As per Marc Stein’s reports, there has been strong resistance in the Nets’ organization about the hiring of Ime Udoka as a new head coach. Several reports had suggested that the Nets’ put Udoka as their top target when they fired Nash from the head coaching job. Whether the Nets continue with their interim head coach Jacque Vaughn or hire a new one remains to be seen.

Paul Pierce talks about Kyrie, KD, and Steve Nash and all the distractions surrounding Brooklyn Nets

What has happened in Brookly in the past two years is nothing short of unfortunate. At one time the NBA community believed the Brooklyn Nets with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were unbeatable. Adding James Harden made them perhaps the greatest offense put together. Paul Pierce weighed on the Kyrie and KD situation in Brooklyn and the firing of former head coach Steve Nash.

Talking about Steve Nash’s firing, Pierce said, “To have this kind of talent on your team to be a first-year coach it’s a lot of pressure that comes with it.” Nash was under a lot of pressure when he was selected for the Nets’ head coaching job. With that kind of roster put together immediately puts the championship hope on the team. Pierce said in Nash’s defense that as a coach, “he only got to play with Kyrie and KD like a full strength roster….15-16 games

Speaking of what has been going on in Brooklyn, Garnett further added, “last two years has been a total distraction” to which Pierce added, “it ain’t been about no basketball... when you talk about KD wanting out of there or the thing that Kyrie is dealing with off the court it’s too many distractions….how can they even focus on trying to be a contender because when you put two guys of that caliber you expect expectations.
