Robert Sarver’s controversy has truly blown up! Phoenix mayor Kate Gallego has officially passed a statement regarding the Phoenix owner’s disgusting behavior.

Recently Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver was slapped with punishment from the NBA for his irreverent behavior in the workplace environment. An independent investigation led to this and Sarver has been on blast for the last week because of this.

For those unaware of this controversy, Robert was found to be using the “N-Word” at least five times on different occasions. The owner also engaged in poor behavior towards the female employees in the Phoenix Suns franchise. Several sex-related comments had led the NBA to fine Sarver with $10 million and a year ban.

Yesterday, via Twitter, Kate Gallego released a statement along with the Phoenix City Council members regarding Sarver’s recent findings and the ban from NBA. The statement reads as follows:

“We, like many others in our community, are appalled by the actions substantiated in the NBA’s independent investigation into Phoenix Suns’ managing partner Robert Sarver.

We are extremely disappointed to learn of the awful actions that were allowed to take place within the organization and the lack of organizational safeguards to protect the victims of these acts and hold their perpetrators accountable,” Mayor Gallego said.

The Mayor also stated, “We are equally concerned about a culture that would enable these actions to occur time and again, with – at most- ineffective disciplinary action.” Kate also has instructed the NBA to “take all actions required” to make sure behavior of such is not entertained in the sport’s environment.
