The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers have been having disappointing playoff runs in the past couple of seasons. Both teams have consistently qualified for the postseason. However, neither has managed to win a title yet. Although Phoenix came as close as the NBA Finals in 2021, they fell to the Milwaukee Bucks. Understandably, fans have expressed their frustration over the management and coaching staff. Recently, both Ty Lue and Monty Williams, coaches of the Clippers and Suns respectively, have been reported to part ways with their organisation.

Ty Lue has coached some championship teams. In fact, he coached the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA championship. However, he couldn’t repeat the feat in Los Angeles. Monty Williams, on the other hand, has coached the Phoenix Suns really well. He made the Suns into a team that was a genuine title contender. However, he too found no success, as they always fell short. After their Game 6 blowout by the Denver Nuggets at home, the Suns announced that they were parting ways with Williams.

Following the termination of Monty Williams, Ty Lue was also reported to have mutually parted ways with the Clippers. With both coaches now available for their services elsewhere, sources have reported that Phoenix might pursue Lue. After all, the Suns faced the Clippers coached by Lue in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs and eliminated them. It is clear that the Suns want a coach who has experienced a championship campaign. Therefore, Ty Lue landing at Phoenix might be a healthy possibility.

If Ty Lue is indeed hired to coach the Phoenix Suns, he will have another talented roster at his disposal. Devin Booker has been an extremely dependable asset for the Suns. Moreover, with Kevin Durant on the side, the team can only get better as time progresses. However, Chris Paul‘s future in the NBA lies under question as the 38-year-old has been the center of retirement rumors. Regardless, Lue at Phoenix might just be what they need to win a title. Only time will tell as fans wait for clear confirmation.
