Kevin Durant in an Instagram live session with American rapper Jay Electronica had to come to terms with his position in the greatest of all-time debate as Jay openly told KD that he was not the GOAT of basketball, but instead Durant was a GOAT herder.
Jay Electronica elaborated on his statement: “All those guys with the ball, the handles, the rings, they’re GOATS. What about KD? I say Nah, KD ain’t the GOAT. KD is like me. KD is the GOAT herder. We round up the GOATS. We lead the GOATS.”
Durant’s position in the GOAT Debate
Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the best players of this generation and one of the highest paid too. His athleticism paired with his skills makes him a dominant figure on the court, and by the time he hangs his jersey up, there will be no questions about his impact and talent.
Though there is no one that doubts his skills on the court, the same cannot be said about his legacy and influence. Fans and analysts often enjoy indulging in GOAT debates, names like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and even recently Stephen Curry has been included in the conversations. All the while, KD’s name seems to be missing from the agenda. While it is somewhat fair as KD has not had the influence these names have had on the game plus the highly criticised trade to the Warriors back in 2016 tarnished his legacy considerably and compromised his position in the GOAT debate.
KD is currently in attempts to either have his demands fulfilled by team owner Joe Tsai or get traded, A new team for Kevin Durant would give him a chance to establish his legacy among the greats and be included in the debate of the GOAT of Basketball.
