Raptors broadcaster issues apology for disgusting comments on Sixers star Joel Embiid

The series closer between the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors finished off on a completely unexpected turn of events. The Sixers closed out the game 4-2 in a win over the Raptors 132-97. It was quite the upset for the Canadian bunch after having a small run of success during the series just as their opponents were headed to sweep them.

Joel Embiid, the star of the 76ers averaged 26.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game during the first-round series. He finished Game 6 with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist shooting 12-18 from the floor. As important as he is to the team, the player remains out for a good portion of upcoming matches due to an Orbital Fracture with a mild concussion he endured during play.

Even after a thumb injury that he sustained during the middle of the first-round series, Joel Embiid put out a show to prove his worthiness of becoming an MVP this season. Unfortunately, he was hit on the face by Pascal Siakam of the Raptors resulting in an Orbital Fracture with a mild concussion. The center missed out on Game 1 versus the Miami Heat in round two and will not travel with the team for Game 2 either.

The Heat was able to brush past the 76ers with ease without their All-Star player. James Harden and his ever continuous slump may not be able to carry the team without any extra help from their leader. He scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists getting beaten 106-92 by the end of the fourth quarter. Embiid will target Games 3 and 4 to return only if his condition improves without delay.

It is best to keep your opinions to yourself for your own safety sometimes. The Raptors broadcasters were seemingly very emphatic with their intentions on Joel Embiid’s scary injury. One of the members of the broadcast team said, “You get what you deserve.”

After receiving a heavy dose of criticism for his controversial comments, the broadcaster who goes by the name of Jack Armstrong sent an apology to the Philadelphia player and the fans. He took to Twitter saying, “I’d like to apologise for my comments late in Game 6 between the Sixers and Raptors regarding Joel Embiid. I regret my in the moment reaction. Embiid is a terrific player who has has an MVP season and I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery and return to play soon.”
