With Toronto Raptors having to give their all in the first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers being 3-0 down. The former team was given the required boost before the Game 4 encounter as their rookie power forward, Scottie Barnes was awarded Rookie of the Year accolade by Air Canada, Vince Carter himself. 

While the team was preparing for their showdown in the team gym, Nick Nurse came in to halt the same. Meanwhile Carter appeared on the screen to especially applaud and praise Scottie Barnes. Which pretty much gave an idea to every Raptor player on what is going to happen.

Scottie Barnes received 48 first-place votes with 378 total points. He beat Mobley by nine points, the smallest margin between first and second place in the contest in recent history.

Moreover, he had a lot of steep competition, but ultimately came out on top. He was neck-and-neck with Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers. All three finalists played in the 2022 NBA Rising Stars Tournament. 

That being said, Barnes ROTY prize surely motivated his team enough as Pascal Siakam went onto lead the Raptors in Game 4 against the Sixers. With their first win in this first-round series at their home court, it remains to be seen if the 2019 NBA Champs could possibly turn the tie in their favor. But with the next game taking the NBA fans to City of Brotherly Love, Siakam and other Raptors stars would need to be at their best if they are to cause an upset.

Lastly with Scottie Barnes edging over Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley in the Rookie of The Year accolade, it seems like the most-deserving candidate has been picked. But will Barnes be able to make an even greater impact in the 76ers vs Raptors’ first-round series? Remains to be one of the most speculated affairs to keep an eye on.
