LeBron James and Rasheed Wallace

There have been many former NBA star who regard the modern-day basketball as ‘soft’. However Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is one player who has been able to maintain his dominance over the course of 19 years in the league. Not only is LeBron one of the most powerful, strong and agile scorers but his versatility helps his score big numbers season after season.

Yet it is not enough to convince Rasheed Wallace about the credibility of Bron being successful in the ‘physical’ era of NBA in 80s and 90s. Interestingly, with Lakers making significant changes to their coaching staff, Wallace has been named as the assistant coach. The purple and gold franchise have got in guys like Darvin Ham and Rasheed Wallace of bringing in a change in regime which would could make their big 3 work in the upcoming 2022-23 season.

To those who are not aware, Wallace played in the NBA from 1995-2003, so he knows a thing or two about life was back then, but it’s still hard to imagine anyone accurately being able to judge how a player might have done in a different era. Rasheed Wallace was once asked about LeBron being as good in eras past, and he very defiantly believed the King wouldn’t have been able to dominate the way he has in the current era.

He probably would’ve done good with his physical stature, with him being bigger than the majority of the rest of the players,” Wallace reasoned. “So he probably would’ve held his own, but I don’t think he would be as successful as he is now. It’s a whole different era back then. I couldn’t necessarily say that he would’ve been a beast, but I think he would’ve held his own.”

That being said, with Wallace getting a chance to coach LeBron James, will the former be able to make this veteran even more significant? Well, perhaps there will be a lot of eyes to witness the same. But first and foremost, Bron would be itching to make his way back onto the court, and inspire his star-studded team to their full potential and hype.
