Now with his engagement broken, its evidently a new low in Ben’s life, according to sources, Simmons must commit to playing basketball in the United States for the whole season, while Maya Jama must remain overseas. This condition is just not viable for the two, and they are now parting on good terms.
Ben Simmons has yet to play for the Nets after being moved from the 76ers to Brooklyn last season. In May, he underwent back surgery and wants to be ready for training camp. The Nets wanted Simmons to recover and spend time in Brooklyn this summer. This was taken seriously by the 26-year-old. As a Nets ambassador, Simmons was photographed working out in Brooklyn and visiting local schools.
He even went to the WNBA documentary “Unfinished Business” premiere alongside general manager Sean Marks, head coach Steve Nash, and Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai. This season, Brooklyn could use Simmons at centre. Simmons, who finished second in the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2020, can guard all five spots and would allow the Nets to field a dangerous line-up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving
