Reggie Miller is back in the NBA headlines as he believes Michael Jordan wouldn’t be able to stop Stephen Curry but Scottie Pippen would have aced it. Stephen Curry has been in the headlines since he won the NBA Finals this year against the Boston Celtics. He led the Golden State Warriors to their fourth title in the last eight seasons (the franchise in total has seven titles). There’s no doubt to it that Chef was cooking and was unstoppable on the offensive end swishing deep three-pointers. He also had the DPOY Marcus Smart speechless as he controlled the game and called an early wrap-up in game six. So Reggie Miller answering questions regarding players capable of stopping Stephen Curry is understandable and many want to know that name.
Reggie Miller is probably one of the best guys one can get to answer the question. As during his playing career he was the best shooter in the league from downtown and even had his opponents speechless spectating his jumper. As of now, he’s fourth in the list of three-pointers made behind Stephen Curry, Ray Allen and James Harden. He has also played in different eras and now is an analyst for the modern era. So it’s fair to say he has lived in it and seen it all. He was Stephen Curry before Stephen Curry himself but back in the days things were different and now Chef has changed it all. But today if the Knick Killer was playing he’ll surely be cooking the league just like the greatest shooter of all time.
Reggie Miller believes it would have been difficult but Scottie Pippen could have got it done as he quoted: “Probably Scottie Pippen. I would go with Scottie. Because if you go back in those series where he won [NBA championships]… twice against Utah… it was his defense on John Stockton. They were going to take the point guard out. The series versus us in the Conference Finals, Phil Jackson said, “take Mark Jackson out.” It’s like he goes to the head of the snake. If you can take him out, that’s going to disrupt the rest of their offense. I think they would put Scottie on Curry and have that length really disrupt him.”
Honestly, Scottie Pippen was and is an underrated defender. He has done it all every time and was successful in holding down the mark set for him by the coach. But still, his resume isn’t that defensive as the controversies around it live till today. Reggie Miller is right with the point of length and athleticism Scottie Pippen had and that can really stop the Chef and also the system they run around him. As Stephen Curry is obviously a miss match against the Bulls’ star. But when the host questioned Miller about why not Michael Jordan he was laughing and gave away a great and savage reply.

Reggie Miller for not picking Michael Jordan for guarding Stephen Curry sarcastically with a smile quoted: “As much as I love Michael Jordan. I was getting buckets on Michael Jordan… He’s not… He’s a great defender but don’t get me wrong… I don’t want people to be like… He was an unbelievable defender. But you gotta be committed. Michael’s job was play physically and defensively but offense was where he was going to do most of the damage. He wouldn’t be committed to take him out and you know how much Curry runs he’s like me and there’s no way he’ll keep up with it..”
Reggie Miller like always made sense with his take and reasons as he used logic and facts to back his words up. He even gave away a good name and didn’t disrespect Michael Jordan. But still he and every of his fan should hope MJ doesn’t take his words personally or soon we’ll get to watch both the original rivals go head to head in a game of 21 to show off their defensive skillsets.
