Bronny James, the eldest son of future hall of famer and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, is having a difficult time with his college basketball team, the USC Trojans. However that has not reduced his draft prospects from interested NBA teams.
The freshman finished with 11 points, six assists and five rebounds while shooting 5/11 (45.5%) from the field in one of his best offensive showings of the season in a loss to the Arizona Wildcats which was the only game that he scored more points in was a Dec. 30 loss to Oregon State when he finished with 15 points on 6/11 (54.5%) shooting from the field.
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium speaking on Thursday via FanDuel TV said:
When I talk to people around the league, he's on the draft boards of multiple teams. It is curious: What if he gets drafted somewhere not in L.A.? LeBron James does have a player option this summer.
Bronny has gradually worked his way into the Trojans’ lineup as he has fully recovered from a cardiac arrest he suffered during a workout in July of last year. He is currently averaging 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in 10 appearances.
Fans react to Bronny James’ multiple draft board reports
Bronny James is reported to be in contention by multiple teams as a prospect for the NBA 2024 draft. He has been projected as a first-round pick despite missing the first eight games of the college basketball season.
This season he has shown great athleticism and defensive skills, even drawing comparisons to his legendary father. However, the recent report hasn’t gone down well with some fans, who view this as being because of his famous dad rather than his own talent and abilities. With one user on popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, @AG_NBA_X writing “nepotism at its finest.”
A couple of other fans’ reactions below:
James, at a height of 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m), skillfully plays both point guard and shooting guard positions. Analysts praise his strengths in shooting and defense, despite not having the typical size of most NBA players with his skill set. James excels in catch-and-shoot situations and can defend point guards, earning acclaim for his defensive anticipation and intensity.
