REVEALED: Sixers plan for Joel Embiid vs Miami Heat amid face injury concerns

Joel Embiid

There are no two ways in stating that the Philadelphia 76ers are bound to only get past top-seeded Miami Heat only when Joel Embiid is present on the floor. As much as James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris can be attractive and efficient on the offensive end, the Heat is packed with a solid combination of veterans and young players.

However, the Philadelphia 76ers were handed with a huge blow when Joel Embiid was ruled out indefinitely after injuring his face in Game 6 vs Toronto Raptors in the first round series. According to the latest reports by Woj, Embiid will not be travelling to Miami at all and is completely ruled out for the first 2 games, which hands the advantage in the favor of the home side.

How will Sixers use Joel Embiid vs Heat in semi-final series?

Safe to say it is indeed going to be a tough battle for the Philadelphia 76ers, as they will be without their best player for at least two games. If Philadelphia can find a way to steal a win in either Game 1 or 2, then they will be in a nice spot once Joel Embiid returns. The star center and potential MVP for 2021-22 season is still being evaluated, as he must pass concussion protocols before returning to the court.

Without Embiid, the Sixers are undoubtedly short-handed on either ends of the court. Given that Harden hasn’t been at his ‘Houston’ best form. Moreover the like of Danny Green and other bench players struggling to score big numbers, the Heat will be rubbing their hands to stop the mediocre offensive attack of Sixers. But given that the playoffs have always produced unexpected performances and plays, will we witness the rise of James Harden or any other player? Surely cannot rule out the possibility.

That being said, keep an eye on Joel Embiid, as his health dictates the outlook for the Sixers. If he can return by Game 3, then Philadelphia will still have a chance to win the series. If not, then this might be over before it even starts. Look for the Heat to come out aggressive in Game 1, as they’ll aim to take advantage of Embiid’s absence.
