Richard Jefferson was back on the court last night but not as a player but as an NBA referee since he wanted to add one new experience to his charts. He went to attend many officiating meetings to get himself ready to suit up as a guest referee at NBA Summer League and fortunately all that worked well for him. As he had a great time officiating the second quarter of the New York Knicks and Portland Trailblazers match-up at the Summer League. Richard Jefferson though had a great time the trolls didn’t leave him as he had many moments with the crowd present, during his time as an NBA referee.
Richard Jefferson is probably the first referee in the history of the league who was getting cheered up with standing ovations every time he bounced the ball to the players at the free-throw line. His first ever call as an official also got booed and hyped up by the crowd. Richard Jefferson is also a former NBA player and champion (2016 Cleveland Cavaliers) who retired in 2018 after years of standing strong and delivering. So the new job he had for a while wasn’t that complicated for him. As this time he wasn’t complaining but listening to those. He did a good job coming in as an official during the second quarter. But still, there’s a lot to learn and he’ll be back next year to know and learn more.
During his time while he was learning it all, he got to know a lot of new things as via a tweet from his Twitter account Richard Jefferson said: “Tremendous amount of knowledge about our game that I’ve learned sitting in classes with the best refs in the world…I do this because not many people would dare put themselves in this position. The more info I have, the more informed I am as a broadcaster.” It’s fair to say he did a pretty good job but unfortunately, he didn’t get that great of a welcome by the audience in his debut as an NBA referee.

A courtside heckler wasn’t really happy or enjoying spectating Richard Jefferson live his life out there. As he yelled “You Suck Richard” as soon as the former player now turned into an analyst and broadcaster walked in as an NBA referee in his new uniform.
