NBA trade season is back, and you know what that means! Rumors, gossip, and surprises. 2024 hasn’t even settled in properly and we are already hearing news and headlines. One that surrounds and has already happened is with regard to RJ Barrett. The New York Knicks released RJ Barrett on a trade to the Toronto Raptors in December 2023, but it’s not the move itself that is garnering media attention.
After it was confirmed that the Knicks would be doing a straightforward trade that would see OG Anunoby joining them in return for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second-round pick for the Toronto Raptors, RJ had a few words before leaving. Or rather, a few strong words:
I helped build something in New York. When I came there we weren’t good. I left it a lot better than when it started.
As one can expect, fans are not pleased with his comments. It seems The Knicks are also getting forward Precious Achiuwa and guard Malachi Flynn in the deal, making it quite a positive deal for the team.
However, positive is not the word fans will use to describe RJ Barrett’s so-called “farewell” speech, where he publicly admitted to being the difference maker at the Knicks. And fans on X, have expressed their side of anger with one user even stating “Yall ain’t never been relevant”.
As for the deal, it looks like a smart piece of business from the New York Knicks. Anunoby who has averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in the 2023 season already could be a valuable asset moving forward. But the other half of the season is still yet to be played, so time will tell if this deal could be a make or break for the New York Knicks.
Raptors HC Darko Rajakovic goes on a furious rant after Lakers game
After the Toronto Raptor’s narrow 132-131 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Darko Rajakovic wasn’t pleased. After the final whistle, he was furious about the amount of free throws that were given to their opponents and went on to point out the injustice their team faced.

That’s outrageous. What happened tonight, this is completely BS. This is shame. Shame for the referees. Shame for the league to allow this. Twenty-three free throws for them and we get two free throws in the fourth quarter? Like, how to play the game? expressed his anger after the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers got 36 free throws, converting 28, with a free throw percentage of 77.8%. It was Anthony Davis who top-scored for his team with 41 points in the narrow win.
It has been quite a struggling start for the Lakers as they hold a record of 15 wins and 22 losses already. The team is expected to undergo serious change with a number of forthcoming trades. Of course, only time will tell how they react in the 2nd half of the season, amidst hope that things get better with time.
