Ben Simmons has been under the radar of multiple critics throughout the entire season, condemned for how he handled his complications with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was ultimately traded to the Brooklyn Nets, where he is yet to play a single game despite passing the physicals. The Nets helped him, got him in shape, guided him through recovery and conditioning. There were rumors of him making his debut in the postseason, but Simmons eventually decided to sit out Games 3 and 4 against the Boston Celtics. The critics grabbed the golden opportunity and bashed him for missing such important games.
Today on the show ‘The Odd Couple’, the breaking news of Nets superstar Ben Simmons needing to undergo surgery for a herniated disk in his back, shocked a lot of panelists. Rob Parker thinks NBA analysts like Shaquille O’Neal and Reggie Miller were too critical of Simmons and says while Simmons might give you a bunch of reasons not to like him, you can’t medically evaluate anybody from your couch and he deserves an apology!
Ben Simmons to undergo surgery !
“Shaq said it was a punk move. Reggie Miller, who’s mild mannered, kind of attacked him, and Chris Broussard was critical of him as well. The reason I didn’t attack him is because you don’t know whether someone’s hurt or not.” – Rob Parker said.
Prior to this season, Shaquille O’Neal raged out at Simmons for his irrational conduct with the Philadelphia 76ers. O’Neal roasted Ben for not taking the criticism to improve his game and leaving Joel Embiid to carry the 76ers. Apparently, Simmons was unhappy with O’Neal’s word and sent him a direct message.
“Well, if your back hurts, get some Icy Hot. I’ll send it to you. We call this a punk move. Listen, if you’re not ready to play, you would get more respect from the people if you just say, ‘I’m not ready to play.’ And don’t say nothing else. Don’t be shooting and saying, ‘I’m coming back. I’m going to do this.’ That was a punk move,” O’Neal said.
Rob Parker demands and apology for such harsh comments on Simmons and nobody should be subject to such criticism without knowing their medical background. We all hope for Ben Simmons to return to the court as early as possible and color the court with his vibrant gameplay.
