Brooks, who has been struggling offensively, decided to trash-talk the 19-time All-Star, labeling him as “old”. This comment did not sit well with James, who is known for his exceptional physical fitness and longevity in the NBA.
After the game, Brooks explained his comments by saying, “I poke bears — I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40 (points).” However, James was unwilling to speak about the incident and chose to remain silent. The Lakers’ star player also made it clear that his team is determined to win, regardless of the opposition’s words. He said, “We’re not here for the bulls—, we’re here to play basketball and try to win a championship. That’s all that matters.”
