“I never back down from anybody on court,” 7’5 tall Sim Bhullar gets brutally honest on heated scuffle with Dwight Howard

Sim Bhullar

In 2014, Sim Bhullar became the first Indian-origin, professional basketballer to sign a deal in the NBA (with the Sacramento Kings). He appeared in 3 games for the Kings in the ’14-15 season. On February 22, 2015, Bhullar recorded his first triple-double against the D-Fenders, which included 11 blocks in the game. Howver, as things did not turn out for the best, Sim currently finds himself playing in the Taiwanese League team, Tainan TSG GhostHawks.

Sim Bhullar broke into the news after Tainan TSG GhostHawks‘ showdown against Dwight Howard-led Taoyuan Leopards in the Taiwanese League. Apparently, things got heated between Howard and Bhullar during the game. Two big men faced each other ready to prove themselves at least for the league. Despite playing against a potential Hall-of-Fame player, Sim Bhullar did not back away from the assignment.

After the game when Bhullar was asked about his matchup against the former NBA champion, Bhullar said, he was never concerned about playing against the NBA star.

“It doesn’t matter to me. It’s more for the fans to get to see him play. For me, I really don’t care who I play against,” Bhullar said. “It is what it is, which is basketball. I never back down from anybody on the court. It’s just another matchup for me.

Sim Bhullar’s TSG GhostHawks defeat Dwight Howard, Taoyuan Leopards

Dwight Howard against Sim Bhullar

Bhullar had recently joined the GhostHawks and scored 17 points, with 8 rebounds in the winning cause. He also made two massive blocks in the game against the Leopards. When the former Los Angeles Lakers star was on the floor, Bhullar was assigned to guard him, which led to some chippy moments between the two.

Dwight Howard scored game-high 21 points and had 13 rebounds but had a rough night from the field. The former Defensive Player of the Year made only 8 of 20 shots from the field and 1 of 7 from the three-point line.

After the loss, Dwight Howard spoke to the media and said, “We missed a lot of shots from the outside, shots that we normally make, but the effort, the energy, the passion from everyone was there and I thought we had a chance to really win this game tonight.” The loss was unfortunate, but the team will keep pushing, Howard added.

With the above-mentioned loss (78-87), the Leopards (1-5) continue to stay at the bottom of the T1 LEAGUE among 6 teams. On the other hand, GhostHawks (4-4) are tied for 4th place with Taiwan Beer HeroBears. The Leopards will face the New Taipei CTBC DEA on Saturday in the city’s Xinzhuang Gymnasium. On the other hand, the GhostHawks will go against DEA on Dec. 18 at Xinzhuang Gymnasium.
