Scottie Barnes has been exceptional for the Toronto Raptors throughout the beginning of 2021-22 season. Having already been the constructor in the team’s rise in the latter half of the season, expectations from the Rookie of the Year candidate were high as the Raptors paved their way into the playoffs. Locking horns against Joel Embiid led Sixers, it surely did not turn to be a memorable instance for the youngsters. 

Entering Game 1 of the 2021-22 season, Scottie Barnes found his way on the receiving end when he was dragged to the locker room after a scary injury in the fourth quarter. Furthermore, it was Joel Embiid who stepped onto the foot of the former marquee scorer as he went down with pain.

Scottie Barnes given major injury scare in Game 1 against Sixers

Barnes was helped to the locker room quickly after the incident and it still looked like the Raptors youngster was in significant pain. Initial reports suggest that this is an ankle sprain for Barnes, but we will wait for the official update from the Raptors here. As expected, the 20-year-old was unable to return to the game. It was already a blowout at that point, which further adds insult to injury for Toronto Raptors.

That being said, looking at Scottie Barnes’ initial reaction and the manner by which he could not put any weight on his left foot on his way to the locker room, it won’t be surprising if he missed a few games because of this injury. The Toronto Raptors rookie is going to get tests after the game and we should learn more from this injury.

After losing the first game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Raptors will be keen on bouncing back in the very next game. Given that they do not want to be down 0-2 before the venue shifts, and fans shifts in their favor. Lastly, will Scottie Barnes be able to contest in the next game?
