The 1990s Chicago Bulls were a force to be reckoned with in the NBA. Led by the legendary Michael Jordan, they won six titles in eight years and established themselves as one of the best teams ever. Alongside Jordan was his trusted partner, Scottie Pippen, who was widely recognized as one of the top players in the game and a perfect fit for Jordan’s style.

However, in recent years, Pippen has seemingly turned on his former teammate and friend, making several shocking and disrespectful comments about Jordan and his role on the Bulls. Pippen has expressed his unhappiness with how he was portrayed in the 2020 docuseries “The Last Dance”, which focused on Jordan and the Bulls’ last season together in 1997-98. He has also accused Jordan of being selfish, arrogant, and a bad teammate, claiming that he was not a winner until Pippen and others joined him.

Pippen’s comments have not gone unnoticed by the basketball world, especially by those who played against or with him and Jordan. One of them is Bill Walton, a Hall of Fame center who won two rings with the Boston Celtics in the 1980s. Walton recently joined Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson’s podcast and shared his thoughts on Pippen’s behavior towards Jordan.

Walton said that he was “shocked and dismayed” by Pippen’s treatment of Jordan, adding that it was “just not right”. He said that he loved the Bulls team and admired their greatness, but he could not understand why Pippen would disrespect Jordan so much.

“I’m shocked and dismayed,” Walton said. “Those words are not strong enough to relate my feelings as the way that Scottie Pippen treats Michael Jordan. That’s just not right.”

Walton also added that the Bulls dynasty was more than just Jordan’s greatness. It was also the result of having a brilliant coach in Phil Jackson, a passionate fanbase in Chicago, and several Hall-of-Famers who played key roles in winning five titles. Among them were Toni Kukoc, Jerry Krause, Scottie Pippen, Tex Winter and Dennis Rodman.

“They had a fantastic coach in Phil Jackson,” Walton said. They had an incredible city with a spectacular fanbase, and they had all these players, so many of them are in the Hall of Fame, Toni Kukoc Hall of Fame, Jerry Krause Hall of Fame, Scottie Pippen Hall of Fame, Tex Winter Hall of Fame, Dennis Rodman and at the end of the day, you have Michael Jordan who was a personification of excellence in all things on and off the court.”

Pippen has been relentless in his criticism of Jordan. He recently went as far as to call Jordan a “horrible player” who only became a champion because of the support he received from Pippen and the rest of the Bulls roster.

It remains to be seen if Pippen and Jordan will ever patch things up, but for now, their feud has tarnished the legacy of one of the most dominant dynasties in sports history.
