The Sacramento Kings are up against a tough challenge to knock out the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, from the NBA playoffs. During Game 4, the Kings’ point guard, De’Aaron Fox, suffered a fracture at the tip of his left index finger on his shooting hand.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Fox sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of the game, which the Warriors won in a close contest. Although Fox is doubtful for Wednesday’s Game 5, there is a chance he could still play if he wears a protective gear covering on his finger.
In the Kings’ current playoff run, Fox has been a key player, maintaining an average of 31 points, six rebounds, and seven assists against Golden State in the first four games. Sacramento won the first two games of the series in their home court but Golden State managed to win two straight in San Francisco.
During the latest game, Fox scored a vital 3-pointer in the final seconds that trimmed the Warriors’ lead to one. Although, during the last possession, he faced a double-team from Steph Curry and Draymond Green and passed the ball to Harrison Barnes for a potential game-winning shot that unfortunately missed.
The Kings will need immense firepower to defeat the Warriors in Game 5, especially without Fox, their most consistent scorer and playmaker in the long-awaited playoff run. If he is ruled out, the Kings will have to rely on other players to fill the void.
