“You can’t start the list without Michael Jordan” Serena Williams snubs ‘close friend’ LeBron James in GOAT debate in epic manner

Serena Williams
Serena Williams belongs on any list of the best athletes of all time, so it’s only natural that the retiring tennis icon has her own. During an interview with Time Magazine, Williams was asked to name some of her GOATS, and she started with Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton before moving on to “the original” Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and LeBron James. Lewis Hamilton, a Mercedes Formula One driver, is one of her choices. Throughout their different careers, the pair has been open about their admiration for one another, as they have each pushed the boundaries of their sports.

Oh my gosh. Umm I mean I think Lewis Hamilton, obviously. For me, he is like, not only the greatest but also he does so much. And he’s an amazing guy,” she said. “I mean [naming just] one or two. That’s so not fair because I can’t limit that. I think LeBron [James] is amazing. I think Tiger [Woods] is amazing. Can’t start this conversation without naming in the original, Michael Jordan. So, I just think that those are, like, legendary names that will live on,” she added.
To mention Hamilton first and foremost demonstrates his effect on not only motorsports, but the entire world. Hamilton has always been an activist and vocal on issues close to his heart, with his moral ambitions coming to the fore in 2020 when he spoke out on injustices such as the death of Breonna Taylor by wearing a shirt on a winning platform that said, “Arrest the officers who killed Breonna Taylor.”

Serena Williams has announced her retirement from the sport of tennis. Williams is preparing to call it quits after the 2022 U.S. Open. The pro athlete revealed her choice in a recent interview with Vogue, as she gives her all as the cover girl for the magazine’s September 2022 issue, as Williams discusses being at a crossroads in her profession and with her family.
Williams has 23 Grand Slam victories and 73 lifetime singles trophies to her name. Six of her major titles came from the US Open, where she will attempt to add a seventh this year. She will play Danka Kovini in Monday’s first round match for a berth in the second round and to extend her career.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner then asserted strongly that her name belongs on the list of GOATs, before stating that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are all GOATs in tennis. “And, you know, you can put me in there too. For sure [I belong in that conversation], hands down. And I mean, tennis, hello. Roger, Rafa, Novak. I mean those three are legends,” she stated.
Lebron James on Serena Williams

LeBron James, the NBA’s superstar, praised Williams as a champion and a trailblazer. “Congratulations to you on an unbelievable career,” James said. “You’re a GOAT. What you’ve done for the sport of tennis, what you’ve done for women and what you’ve done for the category of sport—period—is unprecedented.
“It’s been an honor to watch your journey, to watch you conquer all the goals that you ever set, to see you break records, to see you just be amazing and transcendent—not only on the tennis court, but also off. … I just want to say thank you for just being this inspiration for so many. … Win, lose or draw, it didn’t matter. We all knew you were the greatest.”
