Luka Doncic is only 23 years old but it seems almost crazy to compare him to the other youngsters in the league. The Mavs star is now being shouted as the closest thing to legend Larry Bird. NFL legend and NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe would be first in line to hail praise of Doncic.
There are very few players in the history of the sport who have managed to captivate fans of all teams, to come together and hail praise for them. Luka Doncic is only 23 years old and is one of the faces of the NBA. The youngster from Slovenia has been in the NBA for only 3 seasons and is believed to be destined for greatness.
Shannon Sharpe, 3X Superbowl champion, and NBA Analyst on the UNDISPUTED show, believes Doncic is the closest thing to Celtics legend Larry Bird. Larry Legend was one of the few players that made rivals fall in love with him. Doncic is on his way to achieving similar heights of greatness according to Sharpe.
In one of the recent episodes, Shannon absolutely went off on a passionate rant about how good Luka Magic is. The analyst refers to the Slovenian talent as “Baby Bird” and is confident that no player under the age of 25 in the NBA today, even comes close to Doncic.

Luka was voted as the unanimous Rookie of The Year for his first season in a Dallas Mavericks jersey. The player has gone on to earn three consecutive All-Star honors and is one of the fan favorites to watch. Doncic is a special talent and Sharpe makes a bold comparison between Doncic and Larry.
“Luka is the closest thing to Larry Bird, and when it’s all said and done, he’ll probably be better than Bird! Luka is the one guy that can give 40 points and 15 assists. He’s phenomenal,” said Shannon talking to Skip Bayless on the UNDISPUTED show.

Larry went on to win the NBA championship three times with 2 NBA Finals MVP and 3 NBA MVP awards in his career. Bird had a long run in the NBA and was able to accomplish these incredible feats. It is very tough to predict how a player’s legacy will shape up to be, but Doncic is one of the few players who you can put your money on to be an all-time great.
