“A 4th Title and Finals MVP is missing from his resume” Shannon Sharpe believes Stephen Curry would join NBA’s Mount Rushmore if the Warriors win 2022 Championship

Stephen Curry and Shannon Sharpe

Stephen Curry has won it all and stamped himself as one of the most decorated players in the league. But Shannon Sharp considers that winning the Finals MVP award will put him at the “Mount Rushmore” of the NBA World, which obviously the 3-Point King is yet to wrap his hands around.

Golden State Warriors won the series against Dallas Mavericks, winning their 6th Western Conference title in the last 8 seasons. The “Golden State Dynasty” led by Stephen Curry proved to be too hot to handle for the Mavs who saved wipe-out in the conference finals. Stephen Curry made his impact on the series throughout the postseason, through playmaking, scoring, and even important defensive plays for the team. Shannon Sharpe praised the Warriors megastar and furthermore expects him to join the NBA list of GOAT players in the past – provided he wins the Championship with Finals MVP Award.

Shannon Sharp was on “Undisputed”, where he and Skip Bayless discussed the Western Conference finals. Wherein Sharp praised the Finals MVP winner Stephen Curry. The former NFL star pointed out that the three-time champion is only missing a Finals MVP on his resume and argued that if Curry gets that, he will be among the top 10 best players in NBA history.

Baby Faced assassin, as famously known, was a sharpshooter on the court – living up to his name. He finished runners-up in the rookie of the season award but carried his form in the next seasons. Joining hands with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green later in the team, the Warriors started to better their season’s performances and made appearances in the playoffs on regular basis.

Thereafter the Warriors made 5 consecutive NBA Finals appearances and had famous face-offs against LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers team. Winning 3 out of those Finals the Warriors maintained their dominance in the league. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry won 2 scoring titles and 2 regular season MVP awards. He led the league in steals in 2016 and was a member of the unique 50-40-90 club. He became the all-time leading 3-point scorer in the regular season, breaking Ray Allen’s record.

In the current 2022 season, Stephen led the Warriors in scoring and put them in the playoffs, then during postseason games too, he averaged modest 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in 16 games played. With his influential performance, he won the 1st ever Western Conference Finals MVP Award adding to the All-star MVP award won earlier in the year, and now looking at the topmost award in the league.

If Curry manages to win the title this season, Shannon said, “He will be one of six players to have two regular season MVPs, four titles and a Finals MVP, joining (Michael) Jordan, LeBron (James), Magic(Johnson) and (Tim) Duncan. And we believe Jordan, LeBron, Magic and Duncan are on Mount Rushmore. He would join that group. A very, very elite group.”

Warriors are waiting for the winner of the Eastern Conference final between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, till then Steph and co could enjoy the conference success and draw plans for possible opponents.
