The Memphis Grizzlies secured a crucial victory against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA playoffs with a score of 116-99. The win forces a Game 6 back in Los Angeles. The Lakers’ star duo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, were expected to perform well in the game. However, it was Anthony Davis who stand out with a team-high 31 points and 19 rebounds, while James struggled with 15 points in 37 minutes of play.

Following the game, sports analyst Shannon Sharpe blamed James for the Lakers’ loss. Sharpe said, “LeBron didn’t play well, and that was one of the main reasons that they lost the game.” Sharpe added that LeBron had a poor first half with only six points and five turnovers. He also criticized the Lakers’ lineup, particularly the combination of LeBron and Rui Hachimura as bigs in three guards, which he said was getting crushed by the Grizzlies, who are a great rebounding team.

Sharpe also pointed out that the Lakers’ backup unit was awful, with players like Malik Beasley and Troy Brown becoming unplayable. He noted that the team’s starters scored only one guy, LeBron, was a modest one, and everyone else was two or eight.

Sharpe called Austin Reeve’s missed six-footer in the late third quarter, which would have given the Lakers the lead, a crucial mistake. He said that after Reeve’s miss, the Grizzlies went on a 12-0 run, and after that, they never looked back.

Sharpe further criticized LeBron’s performance, saying, “It was one of the worst halves, one of the worst overall games that I’ve seen him play in a very, very long time.” Sharpe attributed 85-90% of the blame for the Lakers’ loss to LeBron’s shoulders. He urged the Lakers to come back strong in Game 6, saying, “They better come with it on Friday.”

In a postgame conference, James did not shy away from the media and admitted to his poor performance. “Tonight, I was s**t. And I’ll be better in Game 6,” he said.

The Lakers heavily rely on James and have high expectations from the 38-year-old superstar in Game 6. James has been averaging 22.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the series so far, and fans are hoping for a classic comeback from the King.

Despite losing Game 5, the Lakers have persevered throughout the playoffs, and James has consistently shown that he is a top performer. James is expected to show his legendary play and provide the leadership the Lakers will need to maintain their playoff aspirations as they prepare for Game 6.
