Draymond Green has been in the highlights of basketball drama lately. His presence on the Golden State Warriors team has been unimaginably beneficial on defense and in mentoring the younger group of players. During the playoffs he has been very active on the court battling it out for his team to win and get another shot for a title run.

The Warriors are now getting ready to face the Boston Celtics on Friday for Game 1. Many believe that the Celtics will have the upper hand during the finals if they remain consistent on both ends of the floor. Stephen Curry has a lot of pressure as he is about to face the toughest defense in the entire league. This is his first ever finals appearance since 2019 and without Kevin Durant by his side. Analysts believe that winning the title and finals MVP is the only factor hindering Curry from an all-time great.

Steph has his owns reason as to why he is worthy to be called an all-time great player. Many have debated over the finals appearances he had especially because Durant averaged better numbers than the point guard. Draymond Green stood up for his brother on the Colin Cowherd podcast saying, “Kevin Durant was absolutely incredible in those finals runs. Steph Curry got double-teamed probably seven times the amount that KD did in any series… this is a double team from a team that’s playing in the finals, these are real double teams.”

KD obviously felt that he was being called undeserving of the Finals MVP awards he won back to back. He replied to Dray saying, “From my view of it, this is 100% false.” Draymond replied saying, “You have to learn to listen to full takes and not snippets before you get baited into tweeting champ.” Durant again fired back saying, “Oh I see it my brethren, I appreciate the compliments but I disagree with what u said about the double teams that’s all, I love the show.”

Shannon Sharpe defends Draymond Green for his comments against the Warriors finals run

Shannon Sharpe

Shannon Sharpe took his chance to make sense of what Draymond Green had tried to convey to the world about Curry. He said, “Draymond did a great got in contextualizing why some people might perceive Steph having an off finals. Steph played really well, he just had a teammate that played better,” said the analyst on Undisputed.

“Draymond is saying you absolutely deserved it,” Shannon included. It was obvious that both players had a huge significance in Warriors success during their 2017 and 2018 championship reigns. Green may have been understood the wrong way by many in this context as he tried to make sense of why Curry did not seem to have had a “good” playoff run.
