“Something is wrong with LeBron” Shannon Sharpe delivers honest reaction to LeBron James’ DROP in performance as Lakers go 2-7

Shannon Sharpe and LeBron James

NBA analyst and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe thinks there is something wrong with LeBron James. Sharpe who also considers LeBron the basketball GOAT does not shy away from his honest takes. Recently on Undisputed Shannon raised questions about LeBron James’ health in light of James’ poor performance this season. Shannon brought into light the missed layups, the air-balls, and the declined lift in Lebron’s game. His take came out when the team was 2-7 and now after losing against Utah Jazz they are 2-8.

Shannon Sharpe kept it real on the channel on Monday about his thoughts on LeBron. He remarked, “There is something wrong with LeBron, there has to be.” When fellow sports analyst Skip Bayless asked him to be particular about the problem, Shannon said, “There is no way that any shot you take outside of 15ft, you airball it… He just doesn’t have the lift… the lift isn’t there.”

Although LeBron has been averaging just under 25 points this season, Shannon believes LeBron’s points have little to no impact on the game. “When you are a bad, poorly constructed team, you are 27, 30, 32, 35 points they hit differently… they have no bearing no meaning on the outcome of the ball game”, said Sharpe. Shannon also pointed out that the Lakers could at least try to keep the game close by playing defense but lately they have stopped playing defense as well. As he said “Now all of a sudden they stop playing defense. At least… they can keep the game close somewhat when you play defense, now they don’t play defense.

Last year LeBron played 56 games and averaged 30.3 points per game in 37.2 minutes with the Lakers. His average from beyond the arc (35.9%) was fairly impressive. Though it wasn’t an all-time high but compared to his career low of 21% this season it was. This season LeBron is shooting his worst field goal percentage at 44.7% since his rookie year (41.7%). A lot of his poor performance could be due to his late ankle issues which have had an effect on his movements. LeBron also didn’t suit-up against the Jazz with left foot soreness.

Shannon Sharpe criticizes the Lakers for their bad start

Los Angeles Lakers are known for being a championship team in the league. Anything short of a championship is a bust year for Lakers fans. So far 2022-23 season has been far from even satisfactory for the team and the city. Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe spoke openly about the poorly constructed Lakers and the team’s struggles on both sides of the floor.

Shannon pointed out that the Lakers have everything wrong with their offense right now. He said, “They are a poorly constructed basketball team…They don’t shoot from the mid-range well, they don’t shoot from the three well, the free throw percentage is awful. So I am just trying to figure out what does this team do well!” As a team, the Lakers have been shooting 29.1% from the 3-point range, and have 44.4% field goal percentage.

Shannon also believes everybody in the Lakers is responsible for the team’s terrible situation except Darwin Ham. Referring to the terrible roster Lakers have, Sharpe added, “they gave him these ingredients, these terrible recipes and they expect him to make gourmet meals with it.” The Lakers face their rival Clippers in their next game on Tuesday, November 9th. With Kawhi Leonard out with injury, the Lakers will definitely try to secure their 3rd win of the season.
