“The level of respect that he wants received is no longer there” Shannon Sharpe makes honest admission on LeBron James’ comments on not getting more free throws
LeBron James
Los Angeles Lakers Megastar LeBron James came up with a ‘witty response’ when asked about the horrendous 2021-22 season. His solution of getting more free throws was supported by Shannon Sharp, who has always had a kind spot for the King.
Everyone else has their versions and reasoning over Los Angeles Lakers’ poor season. But LeBron James owned the responsibility and sited that he needed to go for more free throws for scoring more emphatically on the score board.
In a recent interview, he said, “I want to figure out how to trick the refs. I need to figure it out I’m in the top of the leader-board in field goals in the restricted area things of that nature and I’m in like the bottom tier of free throws per game”
While discussing the topic, Shannon Sharp seemed to agree with James’ assessment. He tried to add some sense to the listeners and maybe to referees also. On the same note, Sharpe believes LeBron is not getting the level of respect he deserves

When asked about the fact that LeBron thinking about getting fewer calls on fouls, Shannon said, “Well they’re definitely not giving him the calls that he deserves, yeah and I would go as far as to yes he is not getting or no he isn’t getting the respect (from referees) that he rightfully deserved.”
Those who are not aware, LeBron James is 2nd best in the NBA with 9 shots in the restricted area per game, just behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. LeBron shoots 6 free throws per game while it’s 11 for the Greek Freak. But statistically, James has never been a great free throw shooter. His best free throw percentage was in his Miami Heat stint where he managed 76% efficiency from the single-point line.

Considering this going more on the line would not be much productive advice rather than improving on the shooting from the same spot. But still more points were missed due to no foul called on the James. People like James Harden, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo use this strategy more often than anyone else as they are good free throw shooters.
As per Shannon, younger LeBron had more foul calls than current megastars. Do you agree with the assessment or any other solution is more suitable for the Lakers’ abysmal season?
