The reasons for Shannon Sharpe‘s departure from “Undisputed” with Skip Bayless in June are still coming to light. Sharpe left Undisputed to team up with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s “First Take.” Sharpe’s famous podcast, Club Shay Shay, moved to The Volume, severing all ties with Skip and FS1. This led fans to believe that there might have been some animosity between the two colleagues that prompted such a drastic move for Sharpe.
The fans were correct in their speculation. In a recent episode of Stephen A. Smith’s show, Sharpe revealed why he left Undisputed and recounted a near altercation with Skip. Sharpe explained that during an episode of the show in December when Tom Brady and the Buccaneers had a poor game, the duo engaged in a heated argument about Brady’s performance. During this exchange, Skip made a personal remark about Sharpe that deeply offended him.
Sharpe described his emotional state after the incident: “I remember going home, calling my sister, I called my brother. My homeboy rushed home after watching it,” Sharpe said. “It took a lot for me not to lay my hands on him, it really did.”
Sharpe elaborated on how Skip commented that while Tom Brady excelled in the NFL at the age of 45, Sharpe had retired from the league at just 35. This comment deeply hurt Sharpe to the point where he admitted to wanting to confront Bayless physically. Thankfully, no altercation took place and the duo went on to depart after the NBA season came to an end.
