The extent of AI in everyday life has resulted in some hilarious results concerning the NBA as well. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley, two of the funniest individuals on NBA TV by far, recently saw an AI content creator produce a hilarious music video.
A parody of Lil Nas X‘s utterly popular Old Town Road, content creator @happycat.1989 edited the likes of Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal into the video, alongside the likes of Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson.
The utterly hilarious rendition led to Shaquille O’Neal himself praising the content creator via an Instagram post. O’Neal was utterly impressed with the clip, and called the creator a ‘monster’:
i’m in love with @happycat.1989 she is a monster with these videos
The AI creator used Shaq and Chuck’s voices to mimic Lil Nas X and Cyrus respectively, creating an utterly ridiculous rendition that looks as legitimate as the original video. Of course, the fact that the creator also edited the voices of Shaq and Barkley in the clip, meant that the singing was not top-notch.
However, O’Neal was visibly impressed and evidently thought that the rendition was hilarious.
Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal are used to trolling each other
The two TNT analysts have been rivals and friends since their NBA days, and generally do not leave behind any chance to make jokes at the expense of each other.
The latest clip, therefore, not only represented an opportunity for O’Neal to praise the AI creator but can also be expected to be mentioned in an upcoming TNT segment. The likes of Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson, who have over the years been privy firsthand to the kind of jokes that the two share at each other’s expense, were also included in the clip.
Regardless, some fans on Instagram were still taken aback, claiming that AI has already treaded into dangerous territory. The seamless way in which Shaq and Barkley featured in the video was bound to result in fans believing that they actually filmed it, considering the sheer quality of the clip.
