“He’s probably more explosive than….” Shaquille O’Neal applauds Zion Williamson in his breakout season

Former NBA player turned analyst Shaquille O’Neal heaped praises on New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson for his performance in the league until now. Shaq made a bold statement by comparing himself to a young Zion. However, the youngster from the Pelicans squad hasn’t disappointed anyone and made essential contributions whenever the team needed him.

Shaquille O’Neal was on the show ‘Good Word with Goodwill,’ where he said, “He’s probably a little bit more explosive than I was. He’s playing great, he’s doing what he’s supposed to do, as the number one of the West. I like what he did the other day. Point one second, I don’t care, I am going to throw it for the fans.” Zion Williamson is averaging 25.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 21 games this season to be an offensive leader in the New Orleans franchise.

Shaq added, “Talking about his size, I know that conversation. They want all big guys to be skinny, but when you are a big guy, and you can move like that, do what you do. He’s playing by the numbers. I wish young fellow well.” Zion has been the difference for the Pelicans. Moreover, they have been able to replicate an all-round performance in the league, as the other players have also stepped up to their responsibilities.

The Utah Jazz thumped the New Orleans Pelicans 121-100, as the Pelicans couldn’t overcome their poor shooting. Malik Beasley led Utah with 21 points coming off the bench, Lauri Markkanen scored 19 points and 11 rebounds; Jarred Vanderbilt had 18 points, 14 rebounds and six assists while Walker Kessler hauled in 16 rebounds with 11 points and three blocked shots. This was a consoling win for the Jazz as they had lost eight of eleven games, recording 16-14.

Zion Williamson was the lone warrior who scored a game-high 26 points. Jonas Valanciunas scored 15 points with six rebounds, and CJ McCollum added 14 points and six boards. This was the first loss for the Pelicans since losing to the Memphis Grizzlies 132-111. They have won twelve of their last fifteen NBA games, recording 18-9. Both teams are scheduled to face each other in their next game, and the Pelicans franchise will have revenge on its mind.
