Shaquille O’Neal has made it to the NBA headlines once again. As recently appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show”, he slammed Kevin Durant for requesting a trade out of Brooklyn Nets. The request came hours after Kyrie Irving opted in for his player option with the Brooklyn Nets as he gave up on his dream of getting a max extension. It looks like the bridge between Kevin Durant and Uncle Drew has burnt a little and KD doesn’t wants to waste any of his time and not become a champion. Shaquille O’Neal in his recent take gave a detailed explanation of the situation the Nets and KD are in as he isn’t a fan of the seven-footer getting into the market again.

Kevin Durant though is under contract with the Brooklyn Nets as he signed a $198 million extension in 2021 and got himself in a deal till the 2025-26 season. But now he is on the wheels trying to chase another ring and become a contender. This isn’t really liked by many around and Shaquille O’Neal is one of them. Having Kevin Durant in the market has shocked the whole NBA and of course, every team wants him on their roster. But unexpectedly, the value the Nets expected to get in return for KD isn’t the same. But they are in no hurry as they already have lost a lot of their future while trying to build a superteam around KD, Uncle Drew and James Harden. Which didn’t register any successful runs. So letting their other stars walk away for less will just be foolish.

Shaquille O’Neal isn’t a fan of super teams and he believes Kevin Durant is choosing the easy road and again riding the bus. As discussing the whole situation Shaq quoted: “When you put a house together, you should live in it. You was the one who hire the architect, you was the one who got the other architect from Philadelphia. So you as a leader, should make it work, but you don’t want to make it work, I guess you’ll go buy another house. You know he’s probably trying to get to a contender. It’s easier that way.”

It’s fair to say that Kevin has really been unloyal with the Nets. As the time when they need him the most and even got the right pieces for him but unfortunately got unsuccessful. He’s standing right at the front door with his luggage packed and ready to roll to some other place. The Nets though have accepted and respected the request of their superstar and even checked him in the market. Some of the many teams who tried to get a deal and made headlines were Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics.

But still, there are hopes that Kevin will stay in the house he tried to build as Shaquille O’Neal correctly said. As there are rumors of him meeting the Brooklyn Nets’ owner Joe Tsai. There’s absolutely no doubt about the fact that KD and Kyrie can get the job done with some correct adjustments made to the roster. But Uncle Drew being available and out of controversies is more important. So fans hating on KD for trying to roll out is very understandable but so is his side as he has all the rights to do so and choose what is best for him and his future.
