“You buy $300,000 chains and leather outfits” Shaquille O’Neal condemns rich athletes for cribbing about mental health

While basketball player any famous sporting personalities are known for mincing their words on every topic, Shaquille O’Neal can never fit into this category. Having made himself a fortune due to the endorsements, investments and business ventures, the former Los Angeles Laker has secured his loved one for years to come. Yet fails to understand why his companions who have earned massively crib about mental health. 

Recently Shaquille O’Neal invited a mental health specialist on his podcast and discussed in detail the issues surrounding the mental health of athletes and the factors which affect it. During the detailed discussion on how modern-day players are known to spend, Shaq gave his views regarding athletes discussing their problems regarding mental health and end up cribbing publicly.

Shaquille O’Neal on ‘RICH’ athletes’ spending habits 

This is not the first time 4xNBA Champion has bashed the modern-day players on a public platform. One of the most recent was when Ben Simmons decided to not represent the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, yet earned a massive pay-check by sitting out the entire 2021-22 season. 

This again became a center of media debates with analysts and fans roasting the former All-Star. Shaquille O’Neal was not one to stay back as he brutally scrutinized Simmons during ‘Inside the NBA’.

On the same note, during his podcast, Shaquille O’Neal said, “Look, I struggle with things but I will not disrespect the people that are really going through it. I cannot. I live a great life so man up, shut up, be quiet, check your mental fortitude and you fix it.” 

While the disparity of the salary structure is massive, one needs to think if the women athletes are being treated in the same manner. While stars like LeBron James go onto earn $37 Million in a particular season, rightfully so, the entire WNBA’s salary slip is not up to that particular level combines. While it is nothing to do with Bron, the partiality in pay for women athletes his one major problem which needs to be solved sooner rather than later.
