Devin Booker entered the Nike family in September 2023, unveiling his signature shoes, the Nike Book 1. As one of the league’s top shooting guards, it’s only fitting for him to wear customized footwear from one of the industry’s major players.

Booker said the following when the announcement was made:

Early on, we landed on the phrase ‘future classic’. At the beginning of the design process, we landed on the idea of the shoe combining lifestyle and performance worlds. The goal was to create something that would be timeless.

Nike unveiled the shoes in September, and since then, the rollout has been gradual. In December, an orange-based colorway edition, limited to 500 pairs, was released at UNKNWN during Art Basel Miami. Some Phoenix fans expressed disappointment with the sportswear giant when they say Booker play in the Player Exclusives inspired by classic Nikes.

Things got out of hand when Booker commented on an episode of Complex Sneakers Show, where they asked if Nike is “fumbling the D1 Book launch.” Devin Booker wrote with a cry emoji:

a lot of people feel the same way

These developments sparked speculation about Booker’s dissatisfaction with Nike. Without delay, Shaquille O’Neal swiftly attempted to lure him to Reebok, a rival company where, coincidentally, he holds the position of Basketball President.

I know y'all aren't happy with the sneaker launch. You should come with Reebok. We just getting started. Hit me.

Booker announces signature shoe release date

Rumors about the Phoenix Suns’ star leaving Nike due to delay in his customized shoes have been put to bed. The star point guard himself confirmed the release date for his Book 1 sneakers.
