When it comes to handles in the NBA, there is no conversation buyable without mentioning the name Kyrie Irving. With some of the best razzle-dazzles to his movements with the ball, there is no denying that Kyrie is one of, if not the best handlers of the ball the NBA has ever seen. As a matter of fact, Allen Iverson made sure he had an argument to support his notion toward Kyrie, putting him on top of the list. But Shaquille O’Neal wasn’t the biggest fan of it.

Allen Iverson said, giving his argument on why Irving is the number one for him, simultaneously praising Stephen Curry for his ever-threatening jumper and his advantage of shooting from longer distances:

Kyrie will have you beat and then bring it back. And play with it. Like he toys with people. He can still just go, but if he feels like playing with you...

But for Shaq, there was only one and only person on top of the best handles list – Jason “White Chocolate” Williams.

And the debate has already been in people’s mouths for a while. In Kyrie Irving’s case, he has taken this attribute and flourished for a while in the NBA. Surely we have seen those mind-blowing highlights of him on the court just maneuvering with such calmness yet with that swagger that has always left the conversation in debate as to whether is he the best ball handler in the NBA.

A similar case can be said for both Jason “White Chocolate” Williams and Stephen Curry who have shown their side of magic when it comes to exhibiting those fast, pacy yet clean handles. Whether Allen’s argument gives Kyrie a plus point or not, Shaq wouldn’t agree – definitely not with putting Jason Williams at the top of the list.

Kyrie Irving revealed the secret for his ball-handling abilities:

I only do those moves when someone kind of puts me in that position. When someone makes me feel uncomfortable, I'll always have a change of pace or have a change of direction to kind of keep them off balance. That's what offensive guys need to remember.

Over the years, we have seen some of the best handlers in the NBA. And Kyrie Irving is no stranger to those conversations. The player has shown over the years how much of a flashy player he is, with most fans attending or watching his games, purely to witness his magic on the court.

But the debate is still up if he takes the throne as the best handler the NBA has ever seen or not. Either way, we are more than blessed to have a player who is pure of magic and makes the game of basketball more entertaining.
