The NBA established the 2020 Bubble, a bio-secure enclosure in Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida, close to Orlando, to shield the players there from the COVID-19 pandemic for the last eight games of the 2019–20 regular season and the 2020 NBA playoffs.

The league attempted to carry on with games in Orlando’s NBA Bubble after the COVID-19 outbreak forced the cancellation of all sporting events. Several notorious instances involving players breaching the Bubble regulations occurred. Shaq further stated that he was breaking the rules by allowing women to join the bubble. On The Big Podcast, Shaquille O’Neal spoke with comedian Bill Bellamy and his longtime buddy Lou Williams about the NBA bubble.

Lou Williams, a former player with the Atlanta Hawks, described how the bubble formed inside. Additionally, he discussed how every NBA player was around, but without any ladies. Bill mentioned that he had heard a tale about players bringing ladies inside, to which Williams responded, “That wasn’t happening.” Shaq then responded there, saying:
