Kevin Durant established himself as one of the biggest and greatest players of our generation. The veteran stands close to seven feet and has the ability to play like a point guard. Durant has been one of the league’s best scorers of all time and poses a major offensive threat to any defender playing against him in a game.

This season did not go quite his way after the Brooklyn Nets struggled to keep their title hopes alive. Kyrie Irving was a major factor that hindered their chemistry and eventually to the team’s downfall this season. The point guard who was not available for the first four months of the season appeared for less than 50 games in an effort to help the Nets get through. The All-Star duo were tremendous and it almost seemed like they were about to surprise the entire league with a sudden emergence.

Kevin Durant became a top-tier candidate for the Most Valuable Player of the Year award but injuries took him right out of the race just as quickly as he transcended to the top. He averaged 29.9 points per game along with 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists shooting 51.8% from the field in the regular season. His partner, Kyrie backed that up with an additional 27 points per game helping Brooklyn to dominate in the play-in tournament games.

During the first round of the playoffs, the Nets failed to get a grip on themselves which eventually led to a disappointing sweep versus the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum along with his team and the reigning defensive player of the year, Marcus Smart took advantage of the lack of defense on the Nets’ roster ultimately shutting down KD from scoring. He averaged a whopping 7 turnovers during the series. In Game 2, he scored 27 points out of which 18 were acquired by free throws. He shot a disgraceful 23.5% from the field.

Durant won his first title’s during his time with Stephen Curry and the Warriors who dominated the league together. The veteran claimed that he felt that he was overshadowed by his teammate and not treated well by the franchise which is why he left. However, it is true that he has not been too successful ever since and has been consistently failing to get by. He has shown interest in continuing with his current team as he believes they can win a championship in the near future.
