If Shaquille O’Neal believes something is good, then it is. Likewise, the former NBA player once had an insane opportunity to become the owner a one of the best teams in the league currently, but on finding out about the ones competing to buy the franchise, he chose to pull out.
During an very recent episode of The Big Podcast, the Hall of Famer revealed he was very much interested to by the Phoenix Suns. “I was open until I saw the initials JB. Let me tell you something, you don’t mess with James Brown, you don’t mess with Jeff Bezos.”
“When the boys come on stage, get your ass and go. So, Jeff said he wants it and a couple of other heavy hitters said they want it. I’m not even gonna put my name in the bucket on this one. I’m not.” Shaq is one of the richest NBA players but he knew he did not stand a chance against names that suited the initials.

Shaquille O’Neal wants to purchase the team that drafted him
Shaquille O’Neal became the No.1 overall pick in 1992 and was drafted into the Orlando Magic. The 4x Champion was an instant success story averaging numbers like 29.3 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in this sophomore season. He almost won the title after reaching the Finals in 1995 but lost to the Houston Rockets in four game.
Considering his history with the team, he feels that he has the upper hand if the current ownership decides to sell the team. “Listen, we still run that franchise. If they wanna sell it to us DeVos family we’re ready to go right now. This message goes out to the DeVos family if you’re ready to sell Orlando Magic sell it to somebody who’s gonna take it to the next level, that’s us.”
Shaquille O’Neal owned a minority share of the Sacramento Kings team. He purchased the share back in 2013 which was sold not too long ago. Shaq currently owns several companies spread across the United States that brings his net worth to a whopping $400 million or potentially more.
