The NBA suspended Draymond Green after he choked Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert in an altercation on Tuesday’s game. Fans and other NBA personalities harshly criticized Green for his conduct. They pointed out that Green did not show any remorse for his actions. Former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal became the latest person to comment on the situation.

Shaquille O’Neal gave an interview to the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. O’Neal did not hesitate to respond to Green’s state of affairs. However, he shocked everyone with his comments. Shaq supported Green for why he did what he did. This will come as a shock to most people.

Many might not have expected that O’Neal would air such a sententious viewpoint though it didn’t make much news given that he placed a headlock on co-host Charles Barkley of Inside The NBA during TNT’s postgame show on Tuesday night. From Shaq’s point of view, Draymond Green attempted to separate Gobert from Klay Thompson.

Shaquille O’Neal and Rudy Gobert have a past fued

Shaquille O’Neal has taken multiple jabs at Rudy Gobert over the last couple of years. Once Gobert learned he had missed the selection for the 2019 All-Stars, the big man, who had been named Defensive Player of the Year for the same season, immediately started weeping. The attitude of Gobert never sat well with Shaq.

Shaq once mocked the Utah Jazz for giving Rudy a Supermax contract. Shaq felt Gobert did not deserve that much amount of money. During a podcast episode, the host said Rudy could lock down Shaq. However, Shaq responded fuming claiming he would dominate Gobert.

Rudy Gobert went on X and said he would lock down Shaquille O’Neal. On numerous occasions, Shaq has brought up Gobert’s lack of shooting prowess. The four-time NBA champion has a tough-love attitude toward the new generation of NBA players. Unfortunately for Gobert, he continues to catch the wrath of Shaq.
