Los Angeles Lakers’ legend Shaquille O’Neal might not be the wealthiest NBA superstar, but he has a heart bigger than his shoe size. While some athletes are busy building upon their net worth, Shaq surely known how to help his loved ones even when he has made it bigger than ever. Justifying the same, Pistons legend John Salley revealed how the Diesel gave his $70k when he reportedly had gone broke.
It is safe to say state that Shaquille O’Neal’s random act of kindness has had the biggest of impacts on the lives of countless people, one of which is John Salley as well. The latter played alongside Shaq when he came out of retirement to join the LA Lakers in 1999 to win his fourth championship. After retiring again from the NBA in 2000 Salley tried different career options and needed the help of his former teammate for his cannabis venture.
Shaquille O’Neal’s generosity came to the aid of his former teammate
“When I needed cash, he (Shaq) said, ‘How much?’” Salley remembered. When the host asked, how much Shaq lent Salley. The Detroit Pistons legend said, “Seventy. To this day. And anyway, there’s deal I went back to him, he said ‘nah nah we’re good.’”
The big man Hall of Famer gave $70,000 to his friend in need and when Salley returned to pay him back, Shaq wouldn’t take it, because of his generosity. Moreover, Salley’s business of cannabis is well blooming, and he has a net worth of around $15 million.
This is just one of the many generous acts of Shaq, he might not be as verbal about each of his donations, but the LA Lakers legend has surely contributed as much as he could for the people in his community. Not only that, he has donating in sustainable charitable houses for years, and has never shied away from imparting the same values and knowledge to his peers as well. That being said, Shaquille O’Neal might be a beast during his stint in the NBA, but his heart is as soft as anyone’s when it comes to helping his peers.
